Provence April 2019

We've been dreaming about Provence for years and finally this year to mark and celebrate our 30th anniversary we finally went! April was a wonderful time, there were no crowds, the weather was pleasant and not too hot, everything was blooming and green and breathtakingly beautiful. I finally got to see and understand the draw the impressionists had to this place, the views, the food, the colors!

We split our vacation into two areas although everything is very close, we wanted to experience the countryside and a town, our first airbnb was a little beautiful renovated traditional farmhouse that was actually originally the village communal laundry for hundreds of years (now you can even bath in it, the water is crystal clear and wonderfully refreshing after a long day exploring) the house is situated 12Km from Gordes, one of the 100 most beautiful villages in France, we were traveling with my sister and brother in law, the house sleeps two couples comfortably with a wonderfully equipped kitchen if you are like us and love to cook.

The Farmhouse

The village of Gordes.

The ochre village of Roussillon

We also explored other beautiful villages such as Menerbes and Isle Sur La Sorgues and the town of Avignon.

In the second part of our trip, we stayed in the old city of Arles and explored the areas around there including Aix-En-Provence which was one of my favorites.

Market Day.

Home cooked meals in the country house

In and around Aix-En-Provence, Patisserie Weibel, Hotel De Caumont Museum

On the bottom right our lovely Airbnb in Arles and one of the wonderful flea markets we've been to and the best Apple tart from the local patisserie.

Beautiful gardens everywhere

On the left Cafe La Nuit, still there since the 19th century and Van Gogh painting.

Lovely details!
